Since 1963 we’ve paddled out for La Jolla — running contests for the next generation, taking kids and challenged athletes surfing, and protecting the reef we call home.

Since 1963
Chuck Hasley, Skip Frye, Mike Hynson and Bill Caster recruited a team, piled into a rented bus and arrived at the big Malibu club contest to dominate it. Word spread fast. Soon the roster read like a who’s who of surfing — Phil Edwards, Miki Dora, Mike Doyle, Donald Takayama, Margo Godfrey.
The Windansea Shack
Built in 1946.Still standing watch.
The palm-thatched shack was put up by Woody Ekstrom, Fred Kenyon and Don Okey, and named a San Diego historical landmark on May 27, 1998. It’s the heart of the beach we’re named for.
